Things are not going well in the ranks of one of the most popular airlines, Ryanair. Some time ago we wrote about price increases related to luggage and boarding in the first place. The quietly introduced increases were supposed to be a "recipe" for the long-standing crisis of this carrier. However, the situation is not rosy. “There will be route cuts,” Ryanair announced. Some flights to Norway may disappear. A pilots' strike is also very likely.

The fight continues - the battle is lost ...

Ryanair is fighting with all its might not to fall out of the "big league of carriers". We mentioned it in the text: Ryanair - be prepared for a pay rise !. The quietly introduced increases in excess baggage and priority boarding fees did not help. On the contrary, the carrier suddenly began to lose customers. Additionally, delays in the delivery of new ones planes forced the director of budget lines Ryanair to decide on mass layoffs. The company has been struggling with financial problems for a long time. The carrier offers quite low prices ticket prices compared to the competition – gasoline prices and staff costs are not decreasing.

Ryanair – like a company is fighting the crisis?

What is the situation like?

By 2020, the carrier will introduce only 30 new machines to its fleet. This is definitely not enough to avoid layoffs and route cuts - Ryanair is aware of this. The first people terminated their contracts in September. Process layoffs will last several months -in autumn and winter. At this moment we know that Up to 1500 people may lose their jobs: 500 pilots and 400 cabin crew. Another 600 positions will be gone by the summer.

A strike can become a fact

Employees companies don't want to layoffs - they want to go on strike. Unfortunately, the employees were not satisfied agreement on the matter remuneration system, pensions, insurance, benefits, parental leave. Pilots from Portugal announced a strike in August. They want better employment conditions and comprehensive social care from their employer. They also do not agree to waves of layoffs - employees should not bear the consequences related to difficult situation airlines. The question remains - will Ryanair find another way to combat the crisis within its ranks? Time will tell!
