From Friday, August 30, the Veslemannen mountain (western part of Romsdalen) is at a red - the highest - avalanche danger level. In this situation, we are dealing with very serious rock movements, which reach up to 70 cm per day. Geologists appeal: "We have never observed such strong activity throughout the entire massif. The risk of an avalanche is at an all-time high.” What do we know more? What is the situation?

The situation looks dangerous and can be very destructive. Fortunately, it has been mastered. Inhabitants of the nearby region were evacuated. Representatives of the Waterways and Energy Authority (NVE) hope that it will also end the increasingly frequent state of emergency for local residents and emergency services. All connections on the Raumsbanen railway line have been suspended until further notice. Special services are on the watch all the time.
