From Friday, August 30, on Mount Veslemannen (western Romsdalen) there is a red - the highest - avalanche risk level. In this situation, we are dealing with very serious rock movements, reaching even 70 cm a day. Geologists appeal: “We have not yet observed such a strong activity in the area of the entire massif. The avalanche risk is at its highest ever. " What do we know more? What is the situation like?

The situation looks dangerous and can be very destructive. Fortunately, it has been mastered. Inhabitants of the nearby region were evacuated. Representatives of the Waterways and Energy Authority (NVE) hope that it will also end the increasingly frequent state of emergency for local residents and emergency services. All connections on the Raumsbanen railway line have been suspended until further notice. Special services are on the watch all the time.
