Winter in Norway is here for good. Many slopes were covered with snow at night. There were serious difficulties - especially on the Akershus and Østfold routes, there were several dangerous situations there. And this morning, emergency services received a call on the E18 near Elvestad, where two cars were involved in a collision. Police and emergency services call for caution. Snow and obstructions appeared. It is especially worth paying attention to the fact that in such conditions the braking distance may be longer. Are you going to work in the morning? Get up 30 minutes earlier and take the throttle off the throttle.

Winter in Norway - be careful on the roads ...

Winter can be beautiful and lovely. Especially here in Norway. However, you should always remember about your own safety and that of other road users.

3 safety rules behind the wheel:

  • check the car before the season - of course, it was good to do it earlier. However, if you have not checked your car yet, it is worth doing it now. Drivers should pay special attention to wipers, the condition of the braking system, lights and, above all, remember to replace the tires with winter ones. For our safety, it is also important to properly drain water or snow from the windows and to work headlamps. Driving too fast may end up skidding.
  • replace tires with winter tires - this topic has been discussed for some time, which we wrote about in our publication: Winter on Norwegian roads - good tires are essential! Good tires mean better grip, more safety.
  • drive with caution - always adjust the pace to the weather conditions. Avoid sudden braking and acceleration in winter conditions.
  • observe and alert about a dangerous situation - do you have a car route recorder? Do you see the offense? Even seemingly small, it can turn into something bigger. Don't be indifferent - be vigilant and inform about road hogs. The police accept every report.

Winter in Norway - get ready to drive ...

We wish you a peaceful and safe journey in winter. What would you add to our list of security policies? Write in the comments.
