New banknotes in Norway - the final stage of currency exchange

The introduction of new banknotes in Norway is the final step in terms of currency changeover. The currency exchange process in Norway has been going on since 2017. The main goal behind the implementation of this process was to make the banknotes much more secure. Their original design was also taken care of. From now on, the new banknotes in Norway will be decorated with a maritime theme.

What will the new banknote look like?

It turns out really nice. The entire banknote is in a delicate purple color. It is decorated with beautiful graphics depicting a rough sea. It is worth noting that the old thousand-krona banknotes are still in circulation and will be accepted for payment for another year. Norges Bank informs, however, that the time during which you can pay with old banknotes must also be allocated to exchange them for new ones.

Where did these changes come from?

The main reason why the process of exchanging old banknotes in Norway started at all is primarily security. New banknotes in Norway have the most modern security features, which are primarily designed to prevent counterfeiters. Thanks to these safeguards, the new banknotes will be much easier to distinguish from the counterfeit ones, which also affects the security of the payments we make with them. There is also consistency in the design of the new banknotes. 1000 crowns decorated with graphics depicting a rough sea. Banknotes with smaller denominations are also decorated with graphics connected with the sea theme. They include, among others lighthouses, cod, or a Viking boat. The new banknotes will therefore not be safer, but also much nicer. How will citizens like them? We'll see in time.
