Coronavirus-Benefit for people who stay with children

Nav has made the decision to pay out the omsorgspenger allowance.
Usually you do not need to apply for Childcare Day Allowance. Each employee is entitled to a certain number of days of care per calendar year depending on the family situation and the number of children, usually 10 days.
If you have chronically ill or disabled children, or the other parent is unable to supervise the child because of, for example, illness, incarceration or conscription, you may apply for additional paid days.

Schools and kindergartens in Oslo are closed.

Briefly about omsorgspenger

You can get benefits when kindergarten or school will be closed due to the coronavirus

  • “Hjemme med sykt barn-dager”. These are the days when you look after your baby. When you need to be at home because, for example, your child is out of school or the kindergarten is closed.
  • Usually, you do not need to apply for days off. As an employee, you are automatically entitled to a certain number of days of care in a calendar year. Your employer pays you wages as usual for the days at home.
  • How many days of care you are entitled to depending on the situation in your shared apartment and how many children you have.
  • You can apply for additional days if
    • you have children who are chronically ill or disabled
    • the other parent cannot supervise the child because of, for example, illness, imprisonment or draft.
