Avinor writes in a press release that their main task in the current situation is to protect life, health and social interests for the entire nation.
They are now closing airports to ensure the Coronavirus does not spread.
Avinor employees will be in quarantine or will be forced to take care of their own children or those they care for. To make sure we have a working airport network, we are releasing resources so that we are prepared at other airports and thus we can minimize the risks, says Avinor CEO Dag Falk-Petersen.
We will close the following airports to commercial traffic from Wednesday 18 March, alternate airport stated in parentheses;
Vardø (Vadsø alternative airport)
Berlevåg (alternative Båtsfjord airport)
Sørkjosen (Alternative Tromsø Airport)
Stokmarknes (Alternative Andøya Airport)
Svolvær (Alternative Leknes or Evenes airport)
Mo i Rana (alternative Sandnessjøen airport)
Mosjøen (alternative airport Sandnessjøen)
Förde (alternative Sogndal or Florø airport)
Sandane (Alternative Airport Ørsta / Volda or Florø)
Closed airports received guidance by arranging transfers to nearby operating airports.
