and freelancers who are losing income due to the coronavirus crisis
Many self-employed people and freelancers lose income as a result of a pandemic crisis. Therefore, a temporary scheme was established to compensate for the loss of income. The application can be submitted only from May.
The compensation is valid from March 16, 2020 and only compensates for income lost due to the current crisis. It assumes that you will cover the loss of income yourself for the first 16 days. Benefit payment is based on old and new income information.
You must have an income as an entrepreneur or freelancer and as a business person you must be registered with the register of companies before March 1, 2020.
The application can be submitted in early May. You can then apply for all or part of your lost income in April. This means that you are applying for compensation after you have lost your income.
This is how you can find out when you are entitled to the benefit:
- Check the date when you started losing income (not when you lost the job)
- Count 16 days from this date (you need to cover these days yourself)
- You can apply for the benefit from one month after the 16 days that you have to pay for yourself.
You must be 18 years of age or older and 67 years or older.
As a self-employed and / or freelancer, you need an annual income greater than 0,75 G (basic social security amount), i.e. NOK 74, and not receive any other payment from NAV to compensate for the same loss of income
The loss of income is not fully compensated.
You must pay for the loss of income for the first 16 days. Then the rate of benefit is 80 percent.
If you have lost all or part of your income, you can receive compensation amounting to 80 percent of the lost income up to 6G (NOK 599).
