Minor explosions
. The fire is at Henriksen oljetransport AS, which, among other things, handles and stores hazardous waste.
– When we arrived at the scene, the gas cylinders exploded. All nearby buildings were evacuated, says the southwest operations manager police district, Tom Erik Birkeland.

The fire spread
The police received informationthat the fire broke out in a tank containing, among other things, oil. This spread to a container containing various gas cylinders with unknown contents and to two adjacent buildings.
One of the buildings collapsed and there is a danger continuing to spread, but no injuries were reported in connection with the fire.
fire brigade works with cooling and extinguishing. There are several fire trucks on scene, in addition to two ladder trucks and a Panther fire truck from the airport.
A safe distance of 300 meters has been established around the container.
. This has consequences for traffic
Traffic is blocked towards E39 i to Mekjarvik. In addition, there is also a ferry port in Mekjarvik closed until further notice. MF Vollsøy will therefore set off from Kvitsøy to Fiskepiren in Stavanger with hourly departures.
