.

There comes a moment in everyone's life when we decide to buy our first car in Norway. What should you pay attention to and how to smoothly go through this process? The article below will dispel all your doubts.

The car can be purchased in two ways: from a private person or from a car dealership. In both cases, it is worth checking the following things about the vehicle:

Car debt

  • When is the next inspection (so-called EU-Kontroll)

The next step will be to write a contract if we buy privately. In this case, it is worth printing from the page: https://www.if.no/privat/forsikring/bilforsikring/kjope-og-selge-bil/kjopekontrakt-bil, it is a standard car sales contract (Salgskontrakt), where it is worth paying particular attention to:

  • name and surname of the seller and the buyer
  • date of takeover
  • payment method
  • make, type and year of the vehicle
  • date of first registration
  • registration number
  • course
  • equipment and accessories
  • previous damage and repairs

After writing the contract, it is important to contact the insurance company regarding the purchase of a car policy: https://wataha.no/2018/04/27/ubezpieczenie-samochodu/ and send by logging on to the website of the communication department of Statens Vegvesen.

First of all, I propose to contact our trusted insurance advisors, who will certainly not disappoint you:

in order to confirm the purchase of the car and pay for the re-registration to the new owner. It should be especially remembered that after purchasing the car, we have 3 days to insure the car, after this date a fine of 150 kr for each day is imposed. https://www.tff.no/gebyr/gebyr-til-uforsikrede-kjoretoy/

 Important information

It is worth ordering the so-called Autopass, a device thanks to which we will have additional discounts for tolls (bompenger).

When it comes to buying a car from a car dealer, all the activities described above are very often included in the car's purchase price. However, remember to always check the previously mentioned car debt or EU-Kontroll. It is also worth checking the vehicle's service history carefully.
