The government announced on Monday, December 28.12 that the quarantine rules are changing. A press release made it public that the quarantine rules for foreign travelers are changing.
The change is that visitors, if they test negative twice for the coronavirus, may be quarantined for a period of 7 days.
Previously, all travelers had to be quarantined for ten days.
Testing is still voluntary, but the government hopes that more people will be tested after the rules change.
The first coronavirus test must be done within three days of returning home to Norway. The second, however, no later than seven days after arrival.
The new solution does not apply to travelers who have been to Great Britain in the last 14 days before coming to Norway. It is mandatory for them to test themselves, but still cannot shorten the entry quarantine.
- It is important to postpone the spread of the more contagious variants to Norway for as long as possible. Therefore, we must do everything in our power to screen as many people as possible who enter the country. This will not affect other important testing work related to, among other things, infection tracking and infection quarantine, says Health Minister Bent Høie.
If travelers do not wish to undergo testing, they must be quarantined for 10 days.
The new program is valid from December 29 from 08.
