Winter holidays are coming soon, so the Norwegian Health Directorate and the National Institute of Public Health have prepared national recommendations for planning and running winter holidays to avoid an increase in infection.
Going abroad is not recommended.
– Travel abroad over time winter holidays would be contrary to our travel advice. The risk is too high. Both in terms of infection and due to changes in regulations in the countries you visit and the possibility of returning. Flights are being canceled and regulations are changing rapidly in different countries, says Health Minister Høie.
Basic hygiene and good distance
The general country recommendations also apply during the winter holidays. Remember to stay home if you are not healthy. Take the test as soon as possible if you believe you are infected. Basic hygiene and keeping distance to others is very important, no matter where you spend your holidays.
A few good tips that you should take with you
- We understand that many people want to spend their winter holidays, e.g. in a summer house. That's why we've put together some good tips to take with you on your trip to keep it as safe as possible, says Høie.
Here are general recommendations for winter holidays
It is important to stay home if you are unhealthy and get tested as soon as possible if you believe you are infected with COVID-19. Everyone must be prepared to change their winter break plans, if in a place where you live or intend to travel will experience local outbreaks. Then there may be new local councils and regulations that must be followed.
How to travel ?. We do not recommend going abroad.
You can travel to a cottage (your own or rented) or a hotel within the country, but avoid public transport if possible.
-Hotel stay
If you intend to stay at the hotel, you must be prepared to be quarantined until the situation is cleared up if an epidemic breaks out there. Stay away from other guests and follow the hotel's infection control policies. Stay in common areas should be limited to reduce the risk of infection. It is important to know and follow the infection control rules that apply in the area you are going to.
Local recommendations valid locally
People traveling to municipalities with less stringent measures should follow the recommendations of the municipality in which they live. For example, if in your municipality where you live permanently there is a requirement to wear a mask, you should do so in the same situation in the municipality you are going to. Do this even if there is no such requirement in these municipalities.
Social contacts
Everyone should reduce the number of people they have contact with and only be with a few people in social contexts for a shorter amount of time and not too many different people during the week. It is best to collect outside buildings where the risk of infection is lower. If someone belongs to a risk group, special attention should be paid to this.
Visit
National visiting recommendations also apply to visits, e.g. during the winter holidays. ABOUTzThis means that it is recommended to meet other people outdoors and not invite more than five guests in addition to those from your household. As long as you can keep at least one meter away from guests at all times. Limit night visits. The recommendation regarding the number of visitors and distance also applies to overnight stays. People from different households should not share a bedroom. Ensure good hygiene and cleanliness if people from different households need to share a bathroom.
-Shops
Buy what you need for your trip in your municipality before you leave. If you have to find the things you need somewhere, choose times when there are few people and preferably leave only one of the household.
Participation in classes
It's best to choose outdoor activities. Be sure to follow the company's infection control guidelines when visiting ski resorts, water parks, or other locations. Avoid visiting places where a lot of people gather and it is not easy to keep your distance, such as restaurants and ski resorts.
Always remember that hand hygiene is important and distance from others.
