Following a police investigation into a gross fraud of approximately NOK 2,5 million related to cryptocurrency investing, Troms Police District is looking to obtain information about people who are trying to exchange or use funds from a bitcoin address. The Troms Police District is aware that part of the proceeds of crime are located at the following bitcoin address:

1DKkWREVuUuXmRNe99t9SrHCKdziLuthB8

You risk being forced to take actions that could give fraudsters control over your computer and your money

Entities receiving funds from this address are asked to hold the funds and contact the local police as soon as possible. In addition, the police are asking the public to be alert to emails that apparently come from friends who recommend investing in cryptocurrency.
- This is most often a scam and if you follow these recommendations, you risk being manipulated and forced into actions that could put fraudsters in control of your computer and your money, says police lawyer Trude Kvanli of Troms Police District.

This approach increases the likelihood that these funds can be returned to victims

Information about this address will also be provided to entities from the cryptocurrency industry in Norway and abroad with whom the Norwegian police have contact.
By acting in this way, the entire cryptocurrency industry has a fair chance to help discover who controls these funds, says Kvanli.
In addition, it is important to confiscate the proceeds of crime and we believe that this approach increases the likelihood that these funds may be returned to victims.
Troms Police District also asks you to contact us if you have received funds in good faith from this address. * Økokrim helps Troms Police District with this case.

Norwegian police have previously warned against receiving funds from the following cryptocurrency addresses:

* Økokrim was established in 1989 and is both a special body within the police force and a prosecutor's office with national powers. Økokrim is the leading investigation and prosecution organization in the fight against economic and environmental crime.
