The Innlandet Police District phone number has recently been used in several fraud attempts. The aim was to gain access to Internet accounts belonging to private individuals. You should know that the police will never ask for this type of information over the phone.

The caller introduced himself as an economic crime investigator

Last week I received a call from the Innlandet Police District telephone number (no. 62539000). The caller identified himself as an economic crime investigator in the Innlandet Police District. This so-called investigator then presented the story that the bank account had been hacked/improperly hacked used and therefore he must have had access to the man's bank account. This was passed on to an "investigator" and the movements in the man's bank account were then mapped. The case is being investigated.

Don't trust anyone who calls you and says there are problems with your online banking and that they can help you

- You can manipulate digital information such as telephone numbers. Don't trust anyone who calls you and says there are problems with online banking and that they can help you. The police will never ask anyone to log into an internet bank or to access an internet bank over the phone, stresses Rune Otterstad, head of the joint prevention unit at Innlandet Police District.

Those faced with this situation need to contact the police to get as much information as possible and avoid being scammed, Otterstad says.
