Every third inhabitant of Norway is nervous about fast motorboats and jet skis. A national survey of Ipsos asking people what annoys them most when traveling in sea and coastal waters.
- There are many of us who are looking forward to a vacation at sea, but here, too, it is important to be cautious. Peace and quiet are some of the top reasons people look for nature, and high-speed vehicles can cause both noise and uncertainty, says Bente Lier, Norsk Friluftsliv's secretary general.

The umbrella organization is concerned about what they believe is a growing conflict between users of the sea. Where users such as rowers, sailors and swimmers are relegated. They believe it's time to introduce stricter ones speed limits for boats and jet skis.

The government is currently considering introducing a high speed certificate for recreational boats with a speed above 50 knots, which corresponds to 90 km/h. Norsk Friluftsliv welcomes the idea of a speed certificate, but believes that the limit should be set at 30 knots to ensure safety at sea.
Garbage is at the top of the annoyance list. 67 percent are irritated by littering
While 39 percent say they are annoyed by passing boats and jet skis, fences and private signs on the coast are also a pain for many. However, what irritates most of Norway's seas and coasters is garbage. 67 percent are irritated by littering in such places, according to Ipsos.
- Rubbish in nature not only destroys the hiking experience, but is also serious for both the environment and wildlife. Here we are all responsible for keeping our coast clean, says Bente Lier in Norsk Friluftsliv.
