Two policemen suspected after the Sarpsborg shooting. Interrogated as suspects after a 34-year-old man was shot and killed in Sarpsborg on Saturday morning.

Shortly after eight o'clock on Saturday morning there was a shooting in Sarpsborg, which resulted in the death of a 34-year-old man. Attempts were made to resuscitate the shot, but he was presumed dead on the spot. A special unit for internal police affairs was created for the investigation. He is now investigating the Eastern Police District after the incident. On Monday afternoon it was reported that two officers had been questioned as suspects in the case.

- On the basis of the information received about the use of firearms, two officers were questioned as suspects. While the third policeman was questioned as a witness. On Saturday and Sunday, the special unit also questioned civilian witnesses to the incident, writes the head of the investigative department at the special unit Liv Øyen in a press release.

Shots in the legs and upper body

Early Saturday morning after receiving a report of a serious incident in Sarpsborg, armed police set out on a patrol. The report came from a concerned resident who saw someone being persecuted by another armed person.

-During the mission, the policemen were armed with one-handed and two-handed weapons. The first patrol, after reaching the place, encountered a man who approached them with a knife. In the ensuing situation, the police fired several shots at the man, including both legs and upper body, writes the head of the investigation, Øyen. Investigators do not report the number of shots fired by the police, but one of the witnesses reports that she heard four shots.

Brayan Jay Corpuz testified that he was the person who was to be persecuted by the dead man. He said the deceased had come to his home early Saturday morning. Corpuz is said to have run out of his apartment while the deceased reportedly ran after him. During the run, he tried to stop several cars, and finally a woman stopped and called the police.

He receives help from Kripos

Kripos assists the special unit in a forensic investigation on the spot, and will also assist in investigations of police weapons. The dead man will undergo an autopsy on Monday.

- The task of the special unit is primarily to investigate the activities of the police. In our case, the deceased has the status of an injured party. The Eastern Police District itself is investigating the incident that left the police on a mission, Øyen said. He further states that the matter is a priority for them. Now they are working on establishing the course of events, police assessments and the circumstances that led to the shots.
