The first evening and night after Norway reopened was marked by loud partying, violence and chaos in much of the country.

On Saturday at 16.00 pandemic restrictions were lifted. In the hours that followed, the party-hungry Norwegians flocked to nightclubs all over the country. However, it did not end well for everyone. Many places have reported long lines and chaos. There were so many people in the streets in Trondheim that a few passed out from the crowd, media reports. In many clubs, the lines to the entrance reached many meters, for example, in front of the Justisen in Oslo, the line was about 65 meters long.

Chaos in clubs and in the city

At the Last Train nightclub, the bartender himself called the police because the situation was completely chaotic. People testified that someone spat on the nightclub windows.

- It was hell, real chaos, people were completely crazy. It was absolutely terrible, says Last Train guard Tony Hansen of the scenes that took place in the streets of Oslo.

The Storgata 26 nightclub is in complete chaos and CEO Johan Høeg Haanes believes the government has started reopening the country too soon.

- That's exactly what I predicted. In the city, it became a threat to life because they did not give us at least a few days' deadline - he says. Police operations centers in many places in the country also report fights and violence.

Many people were hospitalized

- There were reports of fights and riots in central Oslo after 2.30am. We can see that the news has gotten a little more serious in the last hour than it was earlier that night. We have registered nearly 50 different incidents in the last four hours, the Oslo police write on Twitter.

A man was taken to hospital with a severe head injury after being beaten on Stortorget in Oslo. According to the police, the man suffered serious injuries. Several people were reportedly involved in the incident, but no one has been arrested so far. Police from Oslo reported the case just before 3 o'clock on Sunday night. An hour later, they received a report of an assault with a knife.

We're in Nedre Slottsgate after the knife assault was reported. The man has one foot injury but is conscious. We are working on a description of three or five people who escaped from the scene - the police write on Twitter.

Police officers also detained a man who was carrying a large knife in the Strøget passage. However, there is no information that anyone was injured.

At the Universitetsgata in Oslo, a man was arrested after kicking a policeman. Earlier, the detainee also sneaked into a nightclub from which he had already been kicked out. Police have also started looking for a woman on an electric scooter who has started running away towards Akershus Festning.

- The woman managed to escape, but it could have ended badly when she started going against the flow in the tunnel of the fortress. The cameras that recorded the incident show that it was more fortunate than skill, police say.

At both Tønsberg and Skien, crews from the Southeast Police District faced massive fighting. In Tønsberg it happened on the pier, where a dozen or so people were involved in the incident. No one was seriously injured, but a man in his 20s was arrested after being violent towards the police.

At a private party in Skien, the arriving mother was hit by a party participant. The situation turned into a massive fight on the outside lawn. There, too, no one was seriously injured.

In Bergen, a man was reported who kicked and tried to break into a police car. He was also charged with making threats and violence against an officer. Fights with at least five people took place in several places in the city. In addition, the 19-year-old was rushed to the hospital after being hit and kicked, and the 25-year-old had to go to the emergency room after hitting the face with a bottle.

- It was also a busy night for the Agder Police Department. Many people were expelled from Agder town center after minor riots. By which a total of 12 people were arrested - writes the police in Agder on Twitter.

There was a good atmosphere in some cities

But things got better in some places. Police in the Southwest District posted pictures of streets in Stavanger, which were crowded with people, on Twitter.

- Good atmosphere with reopening! the police wrote.

A similar message came from the Troms Police Department.

- The head of communication of the Tromsø Police Department reports a very good atmosphere in the city center and many people outside. Solid lines are starting to line up at all nightclubs. To think that this also applies to other cities in the country, they tweeted.
