Høyre criticizes the Minister of Justice for failing to act after the repeated shootings in Oslo in recent months. The party itself presents a number of proposals.

"I am disappointed with the Minister of Justice's inaction on this matter," said Sveinung Stensland, who recently took over as spokesperson for justice policy at NTB.

- She is new as a judiciary politician, but so am I. Unlike me, Emilie Enger Mehl has a background in the civil service and constant dialogue with the police, but is still unable to come up with measures. In such a situation, the Høyre party must take matters into its own hands, continues Stensland.

He proposes the introduction of permanent weapons in endangered areas in Oslo. In addition, he suggests that members of criminal gangs should be able to prohibit them from staying without prosecution.

Stensland also wants to introduce an amnesty for weapons, avoiding the punishment for handing over illegal weapons at a specific time.

Justice Minister Mehl welcomes the conservatives' proposal.

- We made several proposals, including a strong response against gang crime by police officers, against which the conservatives voted. I believe that because they are worried about it now, this is only positive as it means we can get a majority on important measures to strengthen efforts against gang crime, he says.
