The Global Travel Council will be closed on October 1

The Global Travel Council ends October 1, and no country will now have new travel advice related to the pandemic.

If the situation changes, it may be important to provide travel advice to those countries where the pandemic presents major challenges. Then travel to these countries will be discouraged.

Many countries still have entry restrictions, high infection rates and control measures

- Even though the Global Travel Council is currently being dismantled, keep in mind that the pandemic is not over yet. Many countries still have entry restrictions, relatively high infection rates and strict infection control measures. If you are going to travel, you need to carefully study the situation in the country you want to visit. Informs the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ine Eriksen Søreide.

Norwegian authorities can never guarantee that your journey is completely safe. Each person is responsible for their own safety during the trip

After October 1, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will still be able to deal with travel advice in connection with the pandemic. We follow the situation around the world through our foreign services, using the advice and guidance of the Ministry of Health and Healthcare and NIPH.

Norwegian authorities can never guarantee that your journey is completely safe. This was the case before the pandemic and will continue to be so in the future. Each person is responsible for their own safety during the journey and must check the entry conditions and pandemic status at the destination. Also, make sure you have valid travel insurance and what it covers.

- There are many countries that have not returned to normal, but we are glad to travel more now. We encourage everyone to register at reiseregistrering.no via the regjeringen.no website or the «Reiseklar» app, says Foreign Minister Eriksen Søreide.

Even before the pandemic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advised against traveling to around 50 countries and areas. Including due to the security threat in countries in conflict or in natural disasters. These travel tips are kept.
