The cost will be up to NOK 90 million. The package includes Black Hornet systems along with spare parts, transportation and training. The purchase will be financed by a British fund to which Norway contributed PLN 400 million NOK.

Ukrainian authorities have asked for such equipment to be donated for use in the fight against the Russian invasion.

- The drone developed in Norway is a world market leader. It is used in many allied countries, including the United States and Great Britain. The drone is used to recognize and identify targets. It is easy to handle, rugged, hard to detect and particularly well suited to combat in urban areas, says Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gram.

The Mikrodron was purchased from Teledyne Flir under a framework agreement concluded by Defense Material. Sourcing, training and delivery of material are carried out in cooperation with and coordinated by the UK authorities.

Close cooperation with the defense industry will be absolutely essential in order to be able to maintain the necessary supplies of military equipment to Ukraine in the future. This also contributes to the fact that Ukraine receives more and more modern and efficient equipment.

Drones will help give Ukrainian soldiers an important advantage

- Donating means that we keep our commitments to continue supporting, but it also means a new direction in which Western countries are facing. Until now, we and our allies have largely extracted military material from our own warehouses, says Gram.

An anti-drone system will also be purchased for Ukraine for approximately 100 million Norwegian funds for the fund. The British SteelRock Technologies Nightfighter anti-drone system was chosen.

Nightfighter is a portable system that provides protection against drones through effective jamming. The system is particularly suited to protecting smaller patrols, artillery positions and other vital assets.

- Norway and Great Britain are adamant that we must stand shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine. These groundbreaking drones will help give Ukrainian troops an important advantage in the fight to defend their country from Putin's brutal and unprovoked invasion, says British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace.
