The municipality of Bergen is calling for the use of masks and wants to introduce more infection control rules.
"If we restrict now, we can help avoid the more stringent measures later," says infection control chief Marit Voltersvik.
Over the past seven days, Bergen has had an average of 58 coronavirus infections a day, the municipality writes in a press release. At the end of week 44, the rate of infection was 255 cases per 100 inhabitants in the last fourteen days.
The risk level in Bergen has now been increased to level 4 (the second highest level) and Helse Bergen has increased its readiness.
It is recommended to wear face masks
The municipality issues the following enhanced infection control rules:
Masks should be worn where it is not possible to keep distance in public spaces. Such as public transport (including taxis), shops and malls.
* If someone in the household is infected, it is recommended that the rest of the household stay at home for a few days if possible to check that they are not infected themselves. This applies regardless of the vaccination status. You should check yourself with the slightest suspicion of covid-19.
* Efforts are being made to introduce a new procedure for dealing with epidemics in schools. Students are recommended to take two quick tests a week at home. Parents will be responsible for taking the test with their own child. Overall, a household where you have a person infected with the coronavirus is recommended to reduce the number of close contacts until you recover from the infection situation.
The chief infection control inspector informed the city council of his recommendations on Tuesday.
The City Council fully endorsed the fact that the chief infection control officer now recommends tightening infection control rules. We are observing the situation with increasing concern in other cities and countries where stricter measures need to be introduced, says health councilor Beate Husa.
Currently, no local COVID-19 laws are enacted with prescriptions. However, if the infection situation changes significantly, it may be important to implement local regulations with a few countermeasures.
