– Norway will contribute to important work to fight global warming and strengthen access to clean energy. Climate and energy are high priority areas for us. At the same time, the international solar alliance will be an important arena for strengthening political and professional cooperation with India in the future, says the minister foreign affairs Anniken Huitfeldt.

She announced her membership in Norway during her visit to India.

- We have long-term and good cooperation with India in many climate and environmental projects. Membership in the solar alliance will be a strong point of this cooperation, says Huitfeldt.

Norway can bring expertise related to, inter alia, electrification, smart grids and financing the development of renewable energy.

Norway's level of clean energy activity is increasing in India, especially in the private sector. Membership in the photovoltaic alliance will make India visible as a market for Norwegian companies. That is why Norfund has also decided to make new investments in wind and solar energy in India. Huitfeldt visited the rooftop PV system, in Norfund she is one of the investors.

The International Solar Alliance has transformed into a multilateral organization working to increase the use of solar energy around the world. They work to increase and harmonize demand and help member states find funds for good projects. At the same time, they are working to reduce the risks and costs of developing solar energy.
