The updated estimate of gas sales in 2022 is 122 billion cubic meters. gas. It is about 9 billion cubic meters. more gas than gas sales in 2021. This means an increase of approx. 8%. In the first quarter, companies on the shelf delivered 1,7 billion cubic meters. of gas, it is 6 percent. more than in the same period of 2021.

Companies on the Norwegian shelf are now producing at full capacity

- That's a lot of energy. The energy value of the increment is approximately 100 TWh. Companies on the Norwegian shelf are producing at or very close to full capacity today. High prices give companies a strong incentive to actively work on the use of production capacity on the fields, says Minister of Oil and Energy Terje Aasland.

Most of the increase compared to 2021 is related to increased supplies through gas pipelines. Measures have been implemented in several areas that can lead to an increase in supply in the short term. The market situation has made it attractive for players to sell a slightly larger proportion of the oil production (NGL) in the form of pipeline gas.

There is always uncertainty about the level of production

Part of the expected increase in deliveries compared to 2021 is due to the planned restart of Hammerfest LNG. The estimates technically assume that the plant will produce the same monthly production after start-up as last year's full production.

How much gas will Norway sell depends on many factors. There is always uncertainty about the future level of production, also this year. Higher production levels throughout the year depend on safe and stable operation in the fields and central facilities, and on the commissioning of the fields as planned.
