The website of the Norwegian Labor Inspectorate (arbeidstilsynet.no) was unavailable on Wednesday 29 June. The reason for this was computer attacks by a Russian hacker group. However, from Wednesday afternoon around 16:30 pm the site was up and running again.

The Killnet Group since Russia invaded Ukraine is behind DDoS (denial of service) against Western countries that supported Ukraine in the war. This is the most common form of DDoS attack, in which a website is flooded with traffic.

The group today released a list of Norwegian targets that were attacked. The Arbeidstilsynet was one of the few hit targets which meant our websites were inaccessible.

More about the data attack from the National Security Authority (NSM):

- The attacks are targeting a large number of large Norwegian companies that offer important services to the public, says NSM director Sofie Nystrøm.

- Recently, we have witnessed similar attacks in other countries. However, none of these countries reported the lasting consequences of these attacks. Such attacks could still create uncertainty among the population and give the impression that we are part of the current political situation in Europe, says Sofie Nystrøm.
