Over 500 Ukrainians have found work in the last two months, and about 400 of them are refugees.
- More and more Ukrainians are working, and the vast majority of those who have recently found a job came here as refugees. Currently, there is a labor shortage in Norway and it is very positive that Ukrainians are getting a job so quickly, says Hans Christian Holte, director of labor and social services.
At the end of May, NAV registered 143 Ukrainians as completely unemployed. This is 73 less than in March.
- So we estimate that about 400 Ukrainians who have found a job since March are refugees who have not been registered as jobseekers with NAV - says Holte.
Over 70 percent have a university degree
The skills of refugees are only assessed when they become residents of the commune. Therefore, NAV knows little about the skills of refugees who are not registered as jobseekers with NAV. The vast majority of Ukrainians registered in NAV are people aged 30-50. In this group, over 70 percent of them have a university degree.

NAV has published information for Ukrainian refugees who want to work in svårvågsten.no and together with the Directorate for Integration and Diversity, it has produced two guides: "Directly at work" i "Flexible fast track" (imdi.no) . - In Norway, we have an asylum system where the state is responsible for the refugees until they settle in the municipality. A special feature of this situation is that many asylum seekers live privately and not at reception points. This situation means NAV offices contact refugees early because they have questions about financial aid, says Holte.

According to the STAF report, among the municipalities that responded most have experienced that refugees from Ukraine have asked for advice and guidance on financial assistance. A total of 152 municipalities replied affirmatively in week 25, while 89 municipalities replied no.
