The government continues to invest in offshore wind energy

The government has high ambitions for the development of offshore wind energy in Norway. Therefore, it intends to announce the tender for the first phase of Sørlige Nordsjø II and Utsira Nord by the end of the first quarter of 2023. The government is committed to close dialogue with the offshore wind industry and other sea users when tender documentation is to be prepared. It is currently requesting information on pre-qualification, auction model and support system.

- Today the sea wind adventure begins in earnest! We are allocating sites equivalent to 2040 MW by 30 and now presenting the allocation framework in Utsira Nord and the first sites in Sørlige Nordsjø II. Collaboration is the key to success and I hope that we will get a lot of information from the consultations that are being sent out now. This will set the standard for offshore wind in Norway, says Oil and Energy Minister Terje Aasland.

The package sent for consultation presents the government's proposal for pre-qualification criteria, quality criteria and the model of allocation, auction and support. The dissertation also outlined the division of areas for Sørlige Nordsjø II and Utsira Nord.

— The government wants to investment in offshore wind energy ensured the development of industry in Norway, facilitated the development of innovation and technology and ensured an increase in renewable energy production in Norway. To achieve these goals, we must maintain a close dialogue with the offshore wind industry and other maritime users, says Aasland.
