There is nothing the government is doing that will lower fuel prices from January 1, 2023. They are far from living up to their own promises from the Hurdal platform, which says that ordinary people should get a tax break.
After the SV settlement, the total tax on petrol is increased by 18 øre per litre. For diesel, the tax is reduced by 12 øre per litre, excluding VAT. The demand for blending biofuels increases from 15,5 to 17 percent.
NAF notes that with tax reduction fuel, the government has increased the requirement to mix biofuel with gasoline and diesel, and biofuel costs NOK 30-40 per liter, which is three times more than regular fuel. To sum up, the government's proposal has absolutely no impact on the price at the pump.
The NAF additionally calls on Finance Minister Trygve Slagsvold Vedum to provide a calculation that shows he is not bluffing on the fuel tax.
