On Thursday, 4594 car owners in Norway received a digital message from the Norwegian Armed Forces about a ready demand. This helps to ensure that the Armed Forces have access to the necessary resources in a war situation.

Digital message from Norwegian Armed Forces was sent to the relevant car owners on Thursday afternoon, January 19, 2023.

It's a continuation of what was taken in January 2022 . Subsequently, the Norwegian Armed Forces sent over 4000 prepared requisitions. 3201 applications prepared for 2023 are carried over from last year, and 1393 are new.

What does it mean?

If you receive such a message, it will have no practical meaning today. However, you will learn that your vehicle will be seized for the needs of the Armed Forces in a war situation. The prepared order is valid for one year, but can also be extended.

This practice is allowed by the Military Requisitions Act of 29 June 1951. The application of the Act is decided by the King in Council. This law was created to ensure that the Armed Forces can plan for war preparedness using the resources of the public.

– The requisitions prepared are based on the needs that military departments have in times of crisis and war, and which are not covered by the material in everyday use. The armed forces now continue this scheme for vehicles. This is a precautionary measure and part of a larger build of our readiness, explains Major General Lars Christian Aamodt, head of the Defense Logistics Organization (FLO).
