Øresundsbroen: A journey through Denmark
It is now cheaper for permanent residents and commuters across the Øresund Strait. However, the fare over the bridge between Sweden and Denmark has increased for tourists and other people who only use it once in a while.
During a holiday or weekend trip, the price increased by 6% compared to last year.
Now it costs 690 Norwegian kroner (440 Danish kroner) for traveling in an ordinary passenger car.
The fare has also increased for other vehicle categories:
For cars with a trailer, vans, small motorhomes and minibuses, the price is now 1 kroner per trip.
If you are crossing the bridge with larger vehicles such as a car with a trailer (over 15 meters in total), vans over 9 meters, motorhomes over 10 meters or a camper with a trailer, the price is 2 each time you cross the bridge.
Motorcyclists must pay 353 kroner to travel from Sweden to Denmark.
The price change came into effect in mid-March this year.
The advantage is that the regular Norwegian Autopass works perfectly for crossing the bridge. You'll only get a bill when you get home and use up all your money for other entertainment…
Øresundsbron: Better situation on both sides of the Øresund
New websites and apps will be launched soon to make it easier for people to manage their travel, ticket purchases and discount deals.
- Øresundsbron works towards a more integrated Öresund region where it is easy to live and work on both sides of the Öresund. With our new season tickets, it becomes more flexible and even cheaper to cross Sundsbron frequently. Prices drop the most for people who travel frequently, explains Vestergaard.
Part of the explanation for the "price cut" for crossing the bridge may be changes in traffic between countries due to the pandemic, including travel bans and remote working, which have caused changes in commuting needs.
In total, car traffic across the bridge last year was 12,3% lower than in 2019.
But compared to 2021, car traffic increased by 44,2%.
Last year, an average of over 16 cars crossed the bridge each day.
