The situation at the power plant may lead to increased flow of water down the Glomma, which may affect those living nearby. The police therefore started evacuating residents along the river in cooperation with the municipality of Våler (in Innlandet).

The police appeal to everyone living in the vicinity to pay attention to sudden changes in the water level and to keep an appropriate distance from Glomma.

Anyone traveling or planning a trip on Innlandet should keep an eye on the Statens website vegvesen because currently many roads in Innlandet is closed.

According to Hafslund, the water intrusion led to severe damage to the Braskereidfoss power plant. As a result of a network failure, the generators stopped around 06.30 this morning. In the event of a stoppage, the automation must cause the locks to be opened appropriately in order to remove the increased amount of water, unfortunately this did not happen.

Hafslund advises residents to stay away from the scene.
