Piotr Żyła is the sixth competitor in the ski flying world championships

As we learn from information from the Polish Ski Association, the individual competition of the ski flying world championships in Bad Mitterndorf/Tauplitz has ended. The best Among the Poles was Piotr Żyła, who finished the competition in 6th place. Austrian Stefan Kraft became the world champion.

The weather forecast for Saturday afternoon in Styria was not very optimistic, but the organizers tried at all costs to hold at least one of the two remaining competition series. This trick was a success - the competition started at 16:00 p.m., with a two-hour delay compared to the original plan.

In very lottery conditions, Piotr Żyła coped best among the White and Reds. The 37-year-old took the lead after his 225-meter jump and eventually took 6th place, which is his the best in her career in the world flying championships. He thus surpassed his achievement from Planica from 4 years ago, where he was placed one step lower. Aleksander Zniszczoł, a debutant at the ski flying world championships, also achieved his personal best. Ranked 9th after two series, he finished the competition in 12th place after a 198-meter final flight. The remaining Poles placed in the third ten. 24th was Dawid Kubacki (today 183,5 meters), and 29th was Paweł Wąsek (today 161 meters). The gold medal of the championship went to Stefan Kraft, who was 2,2 points ahead of Andreas Wellinger, and 4,7 points ahead of the competition leader after two jumps - Timi Zajc.

On Sunday, Paweł Wąsek will be replaced by Kamil Stoch

The team competition will take place on Sunday at 14:00 p.m. on the Kulm ski jumping hill. Coach Thomas Thurnbichler decided to change the squad. Paweł Wąsek will be replaced by Kamil Stoch, who will appear on the hill second. The Polish competition will be started by Aleksander Zniszczoł, followed by Stoch by Dawid Kubacki, and the competition will be closed by Piotr Żyła.
