This is very important information regarding the process of Sweden's accession to NATO. The decision of the Hungarian Parliament and the approval by all NATO member states are an important step towards strengthening security in the region.
After the decision was signed by the Marshal and the President and the instrument of ratification was transferred to the United States, Sweden will undergo a formal accession process to the North Atlantic Treaty. This will open the way to Sweden's full participation in NATO activities as an ally.

The Hungarian Parliament agreed to ratify Sweden's accession to NATO. The decision was taken by parliament after a motion submitted by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. Out of 194 parliamentarians, six voted against Sweden's accession.
