People running a business may have been wrongly refused sickness benefit

If you are self-employed and have applied for sickness benefit, you may have been refused by NAV for the wrong reasons.

This applies to people if they meet the following conditions

• You were self-employed when you applied for sickness benefit.
• You received a refusal decision because you did not pay the tax advance.
• You received the refusal decision before June 1, 2022.

Why has NAV changed its practice?

NAV always makes an overall assessment of whether applicants are sickness allowance have documented loss of income. Whether advance tax has been paid is one of several points assessed when person running a business applies for sickness benefits on his own account. In some cases, NAV placed too much emphasis on non-payment of withholding tax and may have wrongly rejected benefit claims sick.
