Winter will suddenly return to parts of southern Norway on Thursday. There will be a sudden change in the weather tomorrow. If the temperature where you are is below freezing or it's raining snow, remember that only winter tires should be used.

Don't risk driving with summer tires when it snows

The Meteorological Institute has issued a yellow snow warning for Agder, parts of eastern Norway and Rogaland. The warning is in effect from early Thursday morning until Friday evening.

5 to 25 cm of snow may fall

Around 5-25 cm of snow is expected to fall, mainly in Agder. Locally, near the coast in Agder and Rogaland, precipitation may appear as sleet. In Rogaland and west of Agder there is snow and strong wind may cause snowdrifts. In the mountains, limited visibility makes it possible to drive in a convoy or the roads may be closed.

Add extra riding time

The message from the Meteorological Institute is ready: Add extra time for commuting and driving. Use appropriate tires and drive according to the conditions.

– If there are sub-zero temperatures or snow where you live, only winter tires should be used. Don't risk that driving on summer tires will be OK. Trucks must be prepared to install chains if the road situation requires it, says Jørn Jakobsen from Vegtrafikksentralen east.
