"This has two goals: to ensure that people who cannot work due to infection control measures have an income to live on, and to ensure greater social justice," says Labor and Social Inclusion Minister Hadia Tajik.
The following programs were supposed to run until the end of January, but are now extended to the end of February:
- Compensation scheme for self-employed and freelancers
- Entitled to unemployment benefit and dismissal, no matter how long they were in receipt of unemployment benefit
- Period for AAP recipientswho were admitted to work
- Increase in unemployment benefit rate by 80 percent of the compensation for the part of the unemployment benefit that is less than 3 times the basic amount
- Special rules for unemployment benefits for apprentices
- An unemployed person can work up to 60 percent of normal working hours before unemployment benefits expire, compared with the normal 50 percent
The measures that have been re-introduced are:
- Right to unemployment benefit for people on low earnings in 2021 is ensured by reducing the previous income requirement for receiving unemployment benefit from G1,5 to G0,75 in the last 12 months or from G3 to G2,25 in the last 36 months.
- The requirement to cut working hours by at least 50 percent in order to qualify for unemployment benefit is relaxed. So you are also entitled to unemployment benefit if your working time is reduced by only 40 percent
- The apprentice unemployment benefit scheme opens to new cases
- The government will ensure that Nav is able to handle any increased inquiries. Consequently, the legal basis for granting unemployment benefits is extended if necessary
The government will extend a series of programs until the end of February to counteract the effects of new infection control measures
- Part of the industries that experience limitations are restaurants and services. We know there are many part-time jobs and small fractions of jobs. We do not want them to go to nothing, which is why we are lowering the income requirements for unemployment benefits - says the minister.
- For now, these measures are valid until the end of February. We are constantly assessing whether further measures are needed. We maintain close contact with the parties to professional life on this matter, says Hadia Tajik.
In addition, the government will allow exceptions to the activity requirements. All within the framework of the program of qualifications and social benefits in cases where the COVID19 pandemic is hindering operations.
