The judicial community in Poznań is against changes in the judiciary that are being implemented by the Ministry of Justice, led by Zbigniew Ziobro. The objection was expressed in resolutions that were supported by 87 judges from the District Court in Poznań. Only one disagreed and four abstained. This criticism is a result of the appeal two presidents of courts district offices in Poznań.

Grounds for the objection

The resolution adopted at the meeting of judges' representatives in the District Court indicates many reservations regarding the changes pushed by Zbigniew Ziobro's ministry. As the content of the adopted document shows, the greatest doubts are related to the reliability of the provided statistical data. In their opinion, such a selective presentation of statistics is against it principles of transparency of changes made personnel. Additionally, they accuse Minister of Justicethat the appointment of new presidents of Poznań's district courts was not consulted with the local community.

Opposition of judges not only in Poznań

Not only the judges gathered around the District Court in Poznań expressed their concern about the actions of Zbigniew Ziobro. According to the portal www.iustitia.pl, on February 28, 2018, a similar resolution was also adopted by the assembly of judges of the Court of Appeal in Rzeszów, and on February 26, the Assembly of Judges of the District Court in Świdnica expressed disapproval. A slightly broader criticism was included in the resolution of the Judges of the Gdańsk Appeal of 1 brand this year. It concerns all activities of the Minister of Justice, alleging that the current information policy is destructive and untrue, which affects the distortion of image functioning of courts in Poland.

These are not the first staff changes

Changes in the positions of presidents of courts in Poznań are not the only changes made by Zbigniew Ziobro. IN January the changes affected the District Court in Kraków, and on November 10, the presidents of the Court of Appeal in Katowice, the district courts in Gliwice and Katowice, as well as several presidents of district courts in the entire province were dismissed. Silesian. This situation also applies to many other cities, including: Gdańsk, Sopot, Białystok, Augustów and Suwałki. The largest changes took place on December 19, 2017 - on that day alone, Zbigniew Ziobro dismissed 20 judges across Poland.

Changes in the judiciary

Let us recall that on August 12, 2017 an amendment to the Courts Act entered into force common. According to its wording, the Minister of Justice has the right to dismiss presidents of common courts and appoint new ones in their place.
