A gang of thieves steals wheels during the holiday season
According to If, there's a great reason to be extra vigilant over the Christmas and New Year weekend.
– Thefts take place right in front of houses, when people are sleeping. Thieves operate silently right next to the wall of the house. Very unpleasant, says communications manager Sigmund Clementz at If.
As we read in the If press release, all four wheels from a BMW were stolen in Høvik in Bærum on Saturday night, Budstikka reports. The car was lifted and placed on wooden blocks. The same night, just a few kilometers away, towards Jar, another BMW was placed on blocks. According to Budstikka, for some reason the theft attempt was interrupted here, and in the morning the owner found the car on a lift and on blocks, with tires and rims intact.

– Unfortunately, it looks like the gang is back at work. There have been numerous thefts of expensive rims and wheels in southern Norway this fall. These wheels are usually exported from Norway, Clementz says.
Thieves are interested in expensive rims. Such a set of rims can cost around NOK 40-000.
This fall, wheels were stolen from cars, among others. in Oslo and Re and Vestfold.
– If you notice activity in the area that resembles reconnaissance or preparations for a theft, contact the police. Don't try to confront them. Write down the details and, if possible, note the car number, make and model, advises If's communications manager.
The problem mainly affects BMW owners, but rims from other cars may be attractive to thieves.
– Cars parked in a closed garage are safer. If you park in a driveway, consider installing motion sensor lighting. Such measures could make stealing wheels from a particular car less important, says Sigmund Clementz.
