First: the tariffs

Before the goods are exported from Poland, it is worth getting acquainted with the customs rates available on the website of the Norwegian Customs Office. You should also use the import calculator, thanks to which we will be able to calculate customs duties and VAT in accordance with Norwegian customs regulations (25% of the basis for calculating customs duties + customs duty; 15% for groceries). Customs duties are calculated on the purchase price of the goods + freight + insurance (optional). The high duty includes additional excise duty on alcohol or charges for products with sugar and chocolate.

Customs

Customs clearance in Norway is not part of the service, so remember about this when preparing customs documents. We also need special permits for such goods as:

  • alcohol,
  • ammunition,
  • antiques,
  • groceries,
  • anxieties,
  • explosives,
  • plants,
  • waste,
  • tobacco,
  • historical monuments,
  • seeds,
  • as well as for animals and endangered species of animals and plants.

Export to Norway step by step

The first place to go is the customs office. We present ourselves there with the goods and invoice in order to prepare SAD documents. This is the export documentation that specifies the weight and price of the goods. The export of goods can be reported electronically to the Export Control System.

Transport to Norway

Customs clearance can be done via the TVINN platform. It is an electronic system of the Customs Office for the exchange of customs declarations, but it does not replace the procedure at the border. The application for access to the system is submitted in the customs region appropriate for the place of registration of the company. The UC assigns a handling unit to send the declaration and also approves the network provider. You must have the right software for your system and an identification number. The system checks the correctness of the completed declaration and the clearance numbers - they constitute a receipt for the declared goods and payments made.

It is worth remembering that the export of construction materials to Norway requires us to pay only VAT (Norwegian MVA).

EORI, registration guide

Remember that we must be a registered economic entity as an exporter. Registration takes place in the EORI system (Community System for Registration and Identification of Economic Entities), which gives the number necessary to perform customs operations. The application may be submitted in person at the Customs Office or its branch in Poland or sent by post. We choose the template based on the location of the entity's seat (in Poland or outside the EU), and this information can be obtained from the Ministry of Finance. When using a power of attorney, you must pay a filing fee, unless it is made in person. The data needed to complete it, depending on the type of application, must include the following numbers: NIP, PESEL, REGON, an excerpt from the National Court Register and data from the ID card or passport.

Export of other goods to Norway

Details on exporting plants, animals, food products and cosmetics to Norway can be found on the website of the Norwegian Food Safety Agency.
When choosing the type of transport, consider the location. If it's the northern part of the country, we can consider air transport, but due to costs, it is worth considering primarily sea and land routes. It is worth being aware that the estimated price will always be only a suggestion, due to the volatile fuel prices.
