Work on the new stretch of road between Lysaker and Asker will be halted. The state budget does not provide for such an expenditure for 2019. Work on the E18 road will be suspended.

Work on the new section of the road should begin in the coming year. Unfortunately, according to NRK, all drivers will have to wait a long time for the E18. The Norwegian Public Road Administration said that work would be suspended due to lack of funds. The state did not include such an expenditure in its budget for 2019. “We will not receive money from the state budget for the project to build E18. We have to put off all activities, ”says project director Svein Røed.

Final decision

The road project that is currently on hold is the stretch between Ramstadsletta and Lysaker. The final information about the entire incident was provided by the Road Directorate a few weeks ago. At the end of last week, subcontractors from the Norwegian Public Roads Administration announced that cranes and all other equipment had been shut down, and that all construction fees would cease to be charged as of January 1.

It's never been like this before

Project director Røed says “I work in Norwegian Road Administration Public for 25 years and have never experienced anything like this before. Stopping such a large and serious E18 road construction project at such a stage has numerous consequences. Restarting construction will mean employing new people, a works for sure will stretch over time.
