Tropical nights? High temperatures? Climate changes? It has been known for a long time that the matter is very serious. Scientists have long been alarming and paying attention to the fact that glaciers are melting. High temperatures are not natural in Norway, Greenland. It turns out that beaches in Norway may also disappear as a result of these negative changes. What is the situation like?

Beaches in Norway - the beauty of Scandinavian nature is endangered ...

This has already become a fact. There are more and more beach destinations in Norway. In the biggest one danger zone is mainly: Vestlandet and Lofoten. Specialists estimated that in water levels are expected to rise over the next 70 years about the entire 80 cm. Let's give the floor to the experts:

What about Greenland?

Beaches in Norway - there are them less and less. High temperatures even reached Greenland. We mentioned this problem earlier in the article: Tropical nights in Norway - Scandinavian heat wave. The situation is really serious and has worsened as a result of the recent wave of high temperatures. In one day, at the end of August, 11 billion tons of ice flowed into the ocean. For a good comparison, it is worth noting that this is the equivalent of over 4 million Olympic swimming pools. The glacier melting season is usually May-July. This year, this period has been significantly extended. In the month of July, the Greenland ice sheet shrank by 197 billion tons of ice, equivalent to about 80 million Olympic swimming pools.

Glaciers are melting - the situation is serious.

Greenland is melting - what can be done?

Scientists are still working on stopping it climate change. The greatest experts recently presented the following operating model:

  1. construction of underwater dams in the foreground of the glacier shelves
  2. support of ice shelves with artificial islands
  3. evacuation or freezing of water in contact between the ice and the bedrock

Are these plans? will come into force? What effect will they have? We'll see... One thing is certain - it is worth taking care of the planet to the best of our own individual capabilities. Of course, we encourage you to do so…
