We wrote recently that the New Year's Eve weather is not going to be too good. Meteorologists predict rainfall from 50mm to 70mm, strong gusts of wind and storms.

If we plan to fire or watch New Year's Eve fireworks today, their visibility may be endangered. Heavy rainfall from 50mm to 70mm and strong winds will be a challenge for all of us. In particular, the people of western and central Norway should be on guard. YR meteorologists issued a yellow alert on Monday morning as heavy rainfall is forecast in the counties Hordaland, Sogn og Fjordane and Sunnmøre. In turn, on the coast from Bergen and north to Møre og Romsdal, will appear storms that will last until the New Year.

Landslide threat

Due to the prevailing weather, several places along the coast have been notified of landslide dangers, including those in Bergen and Trondheim. The threat also appeared in the mountains in the southern part of the country.

Strong wind

Strong winds with heavy rain and snowfall are promised across southern Norway. On Monday evening the wind can reach speeds of up to 20m / s. His calming down is scheduled for Wednesday night. Atmospheric conditions can lead to power outages, as well as trees on the roads that can be knocked down by strong winds. Meteorologists ask drivers to pay attention and keep the roads safe. Additionally, residents of Norway are asked to remove light items such as trampolines or garden furniture from the gardens.

What awaits us?

Probably the best New Year's Eve weather in Norway is in its south and north. The view of fireworks will certainly be the most beautiful in this area. The eastern part of the country will avoid heavy rainfall, as will Troms and Western Finnmark, while in East Finnmark residents will not be without an umbrella. The low pressure that will hit Norway on New Year's Eve will cause strong gusts of wind, in several places in the south and west of the country.
