1983 Karen Carpenter, an American singer (and drummer), member of The Carpenters duo founded with her brother, has died as a result of losing weight.
2009 In Glendale, California, Lux Interior, leader of the alternative band The Cramps, died at 52. The cause of the artist's death was heart trouble. The Cramps group was one of the most important representatives of the musical environment associated with the cult CBGB club. Lux Interior (really Erick Lee Purkhiser) and his wife, Poison Ivy, founded The Cramps in the early 70s.
