In the research conducted for the Association of Car Importers, a solution was proposed to introduce a tax on the number of kilometers traveled. This fee would depend on where we drive in Norway, what car and when. It would ultimately replace current costs such as fuel tax, Tolls and a one-time fee when registering the car.

Survey results

More than half of the respondents, as many as 54%, believe that the proposal to introduce a new fee system is much more advantageous than the current one. Only 8% of respondents believe that the current system is better. The remaining part of those taking part in the survey, i.e. 22%, believe that new road tolls cannot be introduced due to privacy policy.

The decision will be made in February

The survey results surprised the director of the Association of Car Importers because he did not think that such a large group of Norwegians wanted changes in the system. road tolls. In February, Stortinget will decide whether it is worth taking the initiative to verify the validity of introducing new ones road tolls. Many Norwegians hope that the introduction of the new system would eliminate current additional fees, e.g. car registration fees.
