According to the latest statistics, spending on social assistance in Norway has risen sharply. Up to 46 percent in the last 5 years. The report was released by the Central Statistical Office (SSB). According to records - in 2017, Norway spent almost 6,6 billion crowns on social assistance. It is worth noting here that this is two billion more than a few years ago. On average, you can receive SEK 10.500 from social assistance in Norway. Families with children can count on the greatest support.

Motivation for professional activity of people over thirty

The government proposes tightening regulations in this matter and plans to make activity mandatory for people over 30 years of age. On January 1, 2017, an obligation to be active was introduced for people receiving social assistance under the age of 30. In order to receive money, these people must perform the job offered to them or participate in courses. Since the changes were introduced, the number of people using social assistance has decreased by approximately 1.000 people.

However, the problem still exists - the amount of social benefits in Norway is quite high. For this reason, many Norwegians are not looking for a normal path earning money.

Who can get social assistance in Norway?

Social support is provided by the Labor and Social Policy Office (NAV). According to the rules and regulations, it is awarded to people who, for various reasons (random, health), are unable to work normally. Applications for social assistance are considered individually and everyone can ask for such assistance.

Who benefits most often from social assistance in Norway:

  • large families with children,
  • people with a difficult financial situation,
  • sick and disabled people,
  • single mothers raising a child.

How much is social benefit In Norway?

As it was mentioned above - the average financial assistance in the form of social assistance is CZK 10.500. However, this is not necessarily the case as social services assess and verify each life situation individually. Everything necessary to ensure a basic and decent quality of life is taken during the assessment: housing fees, clothing, food and hygiene measures. The care worker always conducts a detailed interview with the requesting person - often also motivating them to take up professional activity. The economic and economic condition of the person concerned is assessed.
