Young pensioners in Norway. It turns out that Norway, despite the fact that it is a country where, as it is said, there is a lot of work, there are constantly increasing numbers of people on a pension. It is quite strange, and at the same time terrifying, that the number of young pensioners is constantly growing. What is the reason for this? Health problems that unfortunately affect younger and younger people? Inability to work due to a serious illness? Or maybe, in some cases, just a lack of skillful job searching? What's the truth? We present the statistics in the article below. Every year, there are a lot of pensioners (also at this young age). we show specific Nav figures and encourage you to read the text.

Young pensioners in Norway - statistics

In 2010, there were 25 pensioners registered in the age group of 29 to 4.027 years. NAV data shows that in 2019 this number increased dramatically to 11.158 people. This is an increase of 177%. Pensioners also appear in younger age groups. In the age group 20 – 24 years old the number of such people has doubled since 2010. In 2010, there were 3.209 pensioners. It's 2019 and this number has already jumped to 6.502 people. 107% increase.

What is the situation like? between 18 and 19 years of age? In 2010, 956 people accepted pensions. This year there are already 1.424 pensioners (47% more). It would seem that the situation in this last age group has improved, but we are still talking about quite a large one group of people.

Young pensioners in Norway - what do the experts say?

Representatives of the political scene respond to the data provided. Runner-up Labor Party (Ap) Hadia Tajik comments on the situation as follows:

“What limitations the government introduced in the allocation of rehabilitation assistance funds (arbeidsavklaringspenger) has resulted in a certain group of people not receiving the support they need. Some are now relegated to receiving 100 percent disability benefits. And these are people who could work, but due to lack of support they are unable to return to the labor market.” - fragment of conversation for channel P4.
