There are more and more cars on the road. Nevertheless, according to the latest statistics, the death rate on Norwegian routes has significantly decreased. The results of the analyzes have not been so optimistic for a long time - yes, road accidents are, but immortal. In today's article, we'll take a closer look at the latest data. We will also pay attention to the most important issues related to safety when driving a car.

Road accidents - fewer fatalities ...

Statens vegvesen (State Road Inspection) published on July 31 a summary of the first seven months of 2019 on Norwegian roads. The analysis shows that we behave more and more consciously behind the wheel. We drive carefully, more carefully, and follow road traffic regulations. We realize that the road situation can change practically from second to second. We are responsible – for our lives and those of other road users. If the good trend continues - number road casualties in Norway in 2019 it will be lower than 100.

Responsibility for the wheel is essential!

Let's hear the expert's voice: “We are on track to achieve the lowest number of road deaths in over 70 years. "We have to go back to 1947 - that's when 94 people died - to find the numbers low enough."- informs the director of the Statens vegvesen, Bjørne Grimsrud.

What does it look like from the map of Norway? The districts of Rogaland and Sogn og Fjordane boast the best results. There were none in these regions this year fatal accident. The most people died in the areas of Møre og Romsdal, Akershus and Nordland - seven people died in each region since January.

Be careful on the road.

Safety basics - how to behave on the road?

Road accidents are commonplace, but a lot depends on us and our driving culture. How to behave to ensure maximum safety for yourself and others?

  • obey the road traffic regulations,
  • always adjust the speed to the driving conditions,
  • give way,
  • always keep a sufficient distance from other cars,
  • do not get behind the wheel after drinking alcohol and when you feel very tired,
  • do not talk on the phone while driving,
  • pay attention to and obey road signs.

Logic? Perhaps - but still the main reason for road accidents is speed, enforcing the right of way, driving under the influence of alcohol. Be polite and careful on the road - respect the health and life of yourself and others.
