Constitutional Tribunal - PIS candidates. For some, the list selected by PIS will come as no surprise. In others, it may arouse slight consternation. Ryszard Terlecki: Stanisław Piotrowicz, Krystyna Pawłowicz and Elżbieta Chojna-Duch - such names were presented by the party for the position of judges in the Constitutional Tribunal. The selection of three new judges is not enough. Two more will remain elected by the Sejm with the majority of the PO-PSL: Leon Kieres (his term of office expires on July 23, 2021) and Małgorzata Pyziak-Szafnicka (her term of office expires on January 5, 2020). Who are the new applicants? And what are their chances in this clash?

Constitutional Tribunal - PIS candidates. What do we know more?

Stanisław Piotrowicz - prosecutor, senator of the XNUMXth and XNUMXth term of office and member of PiS of the XNUMXth and XNUMXth term of office. During the previous term of office, he was in the position of the Parliamentary Justice and Human Rights Committee.

Krystyna Pawłowicz - this colorful figure of the political scene needs no introduction. In 2007-2011 she was a judge at the State Tribunal. In the Sejm of the XNUMXth and XNUMXth term of office, she sat on the Parliamentary Committee on Justice and Human Rights and was a member of the National Council of the Judiciary. She wanted to leave the political scene in recent years, but so far it has not happened.

Elżbieta Chojna-Duch is a lawyer who several years ago was the Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Finance on behalf of the PSL. In 2010-2016, she was a member of the Monetary Policy Council. In 2002-2007, a member of the college of the Supreme Audit Office.

The Constitutional Tribunal - what do we know about it?

The Constitutional Tribunal is a constitutional organ of the state. Its main feature is independence from other courts, the National Council of the Judiciary, parliament, president or government. It is always composed of 15 judges. They are selected individually by the Sejm for a 9-year term of office from among persons distinguished by legal knowledge, and their re-election is unacceptable.

The full composition of the Constitutional Tribunal will be announced soon. Let us recall that the last elections PiS won the elections to the Sejm. However, a large part of the Civic Coalition sat in the Senate. WITH We will observe the changes with great interest in politics and keep you informed.
