. In the heart of events…
The leader of the demonstration, from the very beginning, publicly announced that it would burn the Koran. The Norwegian police strongly did not consent to such an act, citing religious offense and hate speech as grounds. Despite opposition from the police, Lars Thorsen did what he said. It is worth paying attention to the fact that at the climax of the demonstration, the Koran was burned in front of thousands of people. This act met with opposition not only from the Muslim community but also from people of other faiths.
Lars Thorsen burned the Koran - the police know him well
Let's take a closer look at the one responsible for all the fuss. Lars Thorsen is known for his controversial behavior. He has already been sentenced by the Norwegian police to 30 days suspended in prison and a fine of PLN 20. crowns. The reason for this sentence was - as in the case above - to spread hatred against the Muslim community. The man who burned the Koran in Norway had previously distributed leaflets with slogans promoting hatred of the followers of Islam. One of the slogans on such leaflets was: "Muslims are sexual predators." The Norwegian court had no doubts that such an act was a hate crime.
