The Ski Jumping World Cup competition took place on Sunday. It was the competition that started the Ski Jumping World Cup season. Kamil Stoch took third place, and Daniel Andre Tande won the entire Sunday competition. However, the course of the inaugural World Cup competition was not peaceful.
Inauguration of the Ski Jumping World Cup - a dangerous fall of Piotr Żyła
During the first series of jumps, our compatriot, Piotr Żyła, had a very dangerous fall. When landing, the Pole fell down and when he got up, his face was bloody. Unfortunately, he failed to qualify for the second series of jumps. This does not mean, however, that only Kamil Stoch made it to the second round of ski jumping. Our other representatives: Dawid Kubacki and Maciej Kot, also qualified for the finals of the competition. All in all, v the inaugural competition of the Ski Jumping World Cup skiing, as many as 8 Poles took part.
Ski Jumping World Cup: the Norwegians are still going strong!
After the first and second series of jumps, the Norwegian Daniel Andre Tande scored the highest number of points. In the first series he showed a jump of 127 m, and in the second - 129 m. In total, he accumulated as much as 214,4 points, which ensured him a stable leadership position. Just behind the Norwegian, Anze Lanisek from Slovenia came in second. Both jumps of the Slovene were the same length - 126 m. The total number of points that the Slovenian representative accumulated on his account was 225,6. Kamil Stoch came third with jumps of 118 m and 126 m. Despite the weaker jump in the first round, the Pole managed to move up from 12th position to third position.
Ski Jumping World Cup: Where will the next competition take place?
The next World Cup competition is scheduled for November 30 and December 1. It is to be held in Finland. However, the qualifying rounds for this competition will take place the day before, on the ski jumping hill in Ruka. We believe that this time, the actions of our representatives at the Cup competition will be the same The world in ski jumping, will be as spectacular as it was in Wisła.
