New municipalities in the trap of excessive investment!

A few days ago we wrote about the creation of new communes and counties. The main idea behind the new connections is to "start up" and make specific sets of cities work together efficiently. Stronger cities are supposed to power smaller areas. Unfortunately, it's never all rosy and hassle-free. As it turns out, new communes now have a tough nut to crack. Some communes have already started a number of large and small investments in their previous locations. Now, part of the budget has already been implemented. Moreover, the division and new map of Norway means that some of the old "guard" has disbanded. There may now be a misunderstanding as to who is responsible for a given investment?

The problem is that the money has already been used...

Many of the new, merged municipalities in Norway had a difficult start at the moment. One of the reasons is that the old municipalities used money from subsidies and municipal savings, even before the changes. This is the case, for example, in the municipality of Lindesnes, which made up the three formations of Mandal, Lindesnes and Marnardal. Before the merger, the "old commune" spent millions on investments in new sports facilities, car parks and nursing homes. There is little left for other changes.

The topic has not been decided yet...

Is it really that bad? Contrary to appearances, not. Let us remind you that the assumptions of the changes are very positive and rather promising for the future. We talked and wrote about it in one of the last texts: New map of Norway 2020. New municipalities, new counties! After all, the troubles of some communes do not concern the entire area. In addition, we must remember that the source of success always lies in the people who manage a new area. We hope that the communes will be managed with people who manage well. Perhaps soon we will see the effects of the first works.
